Gangster and Mumbai serial blasts mastermind Dawood Ibrahim's brother Iqbal Kaskar has been taken into custody by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in a drugs case, the agency said on Wednesday.
A local court on Monday granted bail to Iqbal Kaskar, the brother of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim, in an extortion case in which he had been arrested a week ago.
Iqbal, who was deported from the United Arab Emirates in 2003, is said to be operating his brother's real estate business.
A court at Bhiwandi in Thane district of Maharashtra on Friday remanded Iqbal Kaskar, underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's brother, in the custody of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for seven days to facilitate his questioning in a drugs case.
The police alleged that Kaskar and his associates had been threatening a prominent builder in Thane, in Dawood's name since 2013 and extorted Rs 30 lakh and four flats from him.
